Basic meteorological parameters including air-temperature and pressure (2m), wind speed and direction, rainfall, dewpoint, ground temperature (5 cm to 100 cm depth), visibility and global radiation are provided by the German Weather Service (DWD) station which is located directly next to the measurement site. The HLUG and MOLA van will also provide back-up measurements of several of these parameters.

The boundary layer will be characterised with Balloon Sondes and LIDAR (MZ).
